Zinedine Zidane is a retired French World Cup winning footballer and is one of the most loved icon’s in France and worldwide.

Zidane’s accomplishments include winning the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 Cup with France, becoming the first team to hold both the World Cup and the European Championship since West Germany in 1974. In 2002, Zindane won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid.

Zidane is one of only two three-time FIFA World Player of the Year winners along with Ronaldo and was named European Footballer of the Year in 1998.

Zidane has been ambassador of the Danone Nations Cup for 5 years, enhancing the awareness of the event thanks to his involvement.

For a young footballer, being sponsored by Zinedine Zidane is the greatest honour imaginable. His commitment to the Danone Nations Cup has boosted the event’s profile enormously.

Since he became the official ambassador of the competition in 2003, France’s celebrated number 10 has been there on the pitch with the children to kick off the World Final.

John Scales was part of the Wimbledon crazy gang that graced the top flight of English football, winning the FA Cup in the famous 1988 final.

John transferred to Liverpool in September 1994. He said the highlight of his time there was his 3 England caps in 1995 and the game at Anfield when they beat Newcastle United 4-3 in April 1996.

Since 2006, John has been involved with The Danone Nations Cup as England’s team manager and mentor.
