ESFA Danone Nations Cup winners celebrate in style!

Following on from the ESFA Danone Nations Cup U11’s National Finals at Lilleshall National Sports Center on Saturday 13th June, three winning school teams have been treated to local celebrations, receiving great coverage with local media.



Buttsbury Junior School

The Essex primary school, winners of the School Teams’ Cup, were treated to an open top bus tour around Billericay.

Their day received plenty of coverage on BBC: from the local station’s evening news (watch the clip here), to BBC News Online (read here) and even featuring on CBBC’s Newsround!

Hanham Abbotts Junior School

The Bristol primary school, winners of the Girls’ Cup, were treated to anopen top bus tour around the City, cheered on by onlookers.

Mike Weenink, Head Teacher of the school said “I am extremely proud of the girls, it’s a fantastic achievement for the school. The open top bus tour was an incredible experience for the team and I am very proud that the whole school came out to give them a heroes’ send off.”

North Walney Primary School

The Cumbrian primary school, winners of the Small Schools’ Cup, took their open top bus tour around Barrow in Furness as a reward for their success.

Enid Milligan, manager of the school said “I am extremely proud of the boys, they are a lovely bunch of lads and we have worked very hard throughout the tournament. The school have not stopped celebrating yet, and I doubt we will for a few weeks, what an achievement!”
